Will Glenn Beck Get Fired?

Glenn Beck might have soured his welcome at another network as more than 30 Fox advertisers including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., have asked not to have their spots air during “The Glenn Beck Program.”

When inflammatory radio host Glenn Beck burst into television in 2006 he was on CNN Headline News for a very brief time before  making wild accusations like “Al Gore is going to fund cars that run on pudding” and drawing racist cartoons to try to parody the outbreak of the Israel-Lebanon war that year.  Even the network that brought the world Nancy Grace and endless celebrity infotainment couldn’t stomach Glenn Beck.

Since coming to FOX News, Beck has not even been taken seriously by his fellow commentators, including Shepard Smith. This clip below, along with Smith’s reactions during Hurricane Katrina coverage, convince me that Smith may be the only real journalist at FOX News. Smith’s got a future in …

Obama the Joker

You may or may not have seen the picture to the right before, which takes Heath Ledger’s creepy make-up from his Joker character in The Dark Knight and slathers it all over one of the thousands of Time covers that Barack Obama has been on in the last year and a half. Below the portrait is simply the word ’socialism.’

This piece, which is really pretty disturbing, is not yet credited to a creator.

But I take issue with this picture, not because I think it is insulting or racist (the latter is the second most ridiculous idea I’ve heard all day … behind this poster), but that this comparison makes absolutely no sense at all.

How can Obama be Joker-ish? The Joker is the personification of anarchy, defined by Oxford as “a state of disorder due to absence or non-recognition of authority.” Which is pretty …

Perception Becomes Reality: Gatesgate and Mainstream Media

Sometimes the media are ridiculous.
After waiting until Michael Jackson’s death to give his last two off-kilter decades a fair analysis, discussing Sarah Palin’s ridiculously miniscule chances at election to the presidency following an abrupt resignation, and screaming at each other from partisan pedestals over a proposed healthcare bill, we’ve decided that our latest obsession will be the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr., who some consider to be the world’s top African American scholar.

Henry Louis Gates Jr. yelling at police while being arrested at his Cambridge home.

Henry Louis Gates Jr. yelling at police while being arrested at his Cambridge home.

Us media types are aware that perception is reality, and we utilize it to the fullest. Fox News, CNN, BBC, MSNBC and Al-Jazeera all speak the truth, but to different people. Amazing, isn’t it?
That’s because different people compile different …

Fox & Fiends

FOX & FIENDS

The three anchors of the strangely successful morning news talk show, “Fox and Friends” all need to be fired. Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson, and Brian Kilmeade all make asses of them weekdays starting at 6am on FOX News Channel. From 6am to 9am, that’s right three full hours, the hosts of the show try to ‘report’ news. Instead they just talk over each other as if trying to be in the spotlight. This perhaps in an effort to try to host their own single shows no doubt entitled “Fox and Fucker.” Steve Doocy (I prefer Doochy) acts as the older, wiser reporter, Gretchen Carlson functions to even the male to female ratio (you know, fair and balanced), and Brian Kilmeade makes continuous attempts at humor but fails miserably. You’re a news anchor Kilmeade, not a comedian. Don’t get me wrong. I love nothing …
