Might Mitt Run Again?

Politico has an interesting article on the possibility of former MA Governor Mitt Romney running for President again in 2012. It’s a ridiculously long article for something that hasn’t been remotely confirmed yet, but it’s worth a look because it’s starting to seem like, were he to run, he would win the GOP nomination this time. And here’s why: Romney is known (and was known back in 2008) for being very intelligent economically, and also knowing a lot about healthcare. These days, economics and healthcare reform are two of the biggest issues facing Congress (and the country), making those two issues very large feathers in Romney’s cap. President Obama has big plans for both, but suffice it to say that if these plans don’t work out (e.g. the stimulus bill fails to stimulate and the healthcare reform comes up short or ends up costing way too much), Romney’s chances are going to look better and better.

Of course, we have no way of knowing what the major election issues are going to be in 2012, but if the economy is still in the toilet and people are still calling out for healthcare reform three years from now, it may seem like time for a “change.”
